Das International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC) pflegt die Kompetenzstandards für die hydrographische Vermessung und die nautische Kartografie und erteilt internationale Anerkennungen für Ausbildungsprogramme, die den Standards entsprechen. Die Standards werden ständig überprüft und überarbeitet, um den aktuellen Entwicklungen in der Technologie und in den Lehr-/Lernszenarien Rechnung zu tragen und die Erwartungen der Interessengruppen zu berücksichtigen. The International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC) maintains the standards of competence for hydrographic surveying and nautical cartography and grants international recognition for training programmes that meet the standards. The standards are constantly reviewed and revised to take account of current developments in technology and teaching/learning scenarios and to reflect stakeholder expectations. This article looks at the historical development of the IBSC, current endorsements and future areas of focus for the standards.

Wo im Studium Hydrographie gelehrt oder erwähnt wird
Eine aktuelle Umfrage zeigt, dass Hydrographie an vielen Hochschulen im deutschsprachigen Raum thematisiert wird. An rund 20 Hochschulen wird sie erwähnt; vier bieten eigene Vorlesungen an (Bonn, Hamburg, Kiel, Oldenburg); in Hamburg gibt es den einzigen spezialisierten Studiengang. Im Vergleich zu einer Umfrage von 2013 hat sich der Umfang der Lehre an einzelnen Standorten teilweise erweitert. Auffällig ist, dass das Lehrangebot stark vom Engagement einzelner Personen abhängt.

A recent survey shows that hydrography is a topic at many universities in German-speaking countries. It is mentioned at around 20 universities; four offer their own lectures (Bonn, Hamburg, Kiel, Oldenburg); Hamburg has the only specialised degree course. Compared to a survey from 2013, the scope of teaching at individual locations has expanded in some cases. It is noticeable that the range of courses offered depends heavily on the commitment of individuals.
