The International
Hydrographic Organisation (IHO), an international body with the status of an UNO
sub-organisation, currently has 73 member states. The IHO cooperates
with international organisations too.
The International
Maritime Organisation (IMO), the Fédération Internationale
des Géomètres (FIG) and many others are included.
In development aid programmes, hydrography contributes significantly
to the development of the receipient countries maritime transportation
system and the strenthening of the countries maritime economy.
The task
of the DHyG includes forwarding advice in the planning operation
and completion of hydrography projects.
