Der Internat. Hydrographischen Organisation (IHO), einem zwischenstaatlichen Zusammenschluss mit dem Status einer UNO-Unterorganisation, gehören derzeit 76 Staaten an.Die IHO arbeitet mit vielen weiteren internationalen Organisationen zusammen. Dazu gehören die "International Maritime Organization (IMO)", die "Fédération Internationale des Geomètres(FIG)" und viele andere.
Besonders in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit liefert die Hydrographie wesentliche Beiträge zur Förderung des Ressourcenschutzes im Rahmen des Küstenzonenmanagementes sowie des maritimen Transportwesens und der maritimen Wirtschaft. Beratung bei der Planung und Realisierung hydrographischer Projekte jedweder Art ist Aufgabe von DHyG-Mitgliedern.
The International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO), an international body with the status of an UNO sub-organisation, currently has 76 member states. The IHO cooperates with international organisations too. The International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the Fédération Internationale des Géomètres (FIG) and many others are included.
In development co-operation programmes, hydrography contributes significantly to the development of the receipient countries´ maritime transportation system and the strenthening of the countries maritime economy.The task of the DHyG includes forwarding advice in the planning, operation and completion of any type of hydrography projects.
